A utility-led upgrade programme addressed persistent issues in an independently supplied area. Five 10 kV load-transfer lines were completed by the end of August 2023, enabling all users in the area to connect to the utility network and improving voltage stability and outage performance.
A total of 353 Distribution IoT Smart MCCBs were installed in Huangnitang Town and Baili Dujuan, Dafang. Through the IoT platform and data centre, operating support systems use the data for transformer-service-area outage sensing and undervoltage monitoring, supporting more efficient, coordinated, safe and sustainable grid operation.
In 2024, average annual outage duration in the Hengqin cooperation zone was 0 seconds per customer and supply reliability reached 100%, exceeding the 99.99999% recorded in 2023. This high reliability provides a strong power-business environment for integrated Hengqin-Macao development and supports Macao’s economic diversification.
Average LV fault investigation time fell from one hour to 15 minutes, and LV protection-setting O&M time fell from one hour to two minutes. About 75% of site inspections moved online, defect discovery time fell by about 80% and fault assessment and response improved by about 90%, using digital intelligence to improve inherent equipment reliability.
To support lower-carbon energy development, the project combines PV generation, energy storage, EV charging and a 10 kV grid connection to pilot an integrated source-grid-load-storage power system. Distribution IoT Smart MCCBs are used with a smart distribution gateway to collect PV, storage and charging data for operating support systems through the IoT platform and data centre.
